About AEX
The All-American Experience Showcase, Inc. (AEX) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that began with a shared vision among founder Coach Tajir Wharton, and his father, Randy Wharton: to create greater value, access, and opportunity for athletes across the country—and eventually around the world.
As former athletes, coaches, trainers, and mentors, we understood that athletes needed more than another game or showcase. They deserved meaningful opportunities to compete, gain exposure, build relationships, and connect with coaches, organizations, businesses, and professionals who could positively influence their futures.
Over time, former athletes who had participated in our training programs and other ventures began reaching out to us. Their questions were no longer only about sports. They were navigating college, preparing to leave home, adjusting to professional football, and facing personal challenges for which they did not always feel prepared or properly supported.
Those conversations changed the direction of our mission.
We began asking an important question: How can we prepare student-athletes for life’s challenges before those challenges arrive—and how can we connect them with qualified professionals, trusted resources, and supportive relationships when help is needed?
With growing concern surrounding mental-health challenges and suicide among athletes, AEX committed itself to creating an environment where athletes are valued as complete individuals—not simply for what they accomplish on the field or court. We want every athlete to understand that asking for help is a sign of strength and that their identity, purpose, and potential extend far beyond sports.
Our mission is to help athletes reach their full potential through athletic opportunity, personal development, mental-health awareness, leadership education, exposure, and lifelong connections. We want them to succeed in competition, but most importantly, we want them to succeed in life.
The AEX All-American Bowl was created as a national expression of that mission. Recognized as The Nation’s Mental Health Bowl, it brings deserving athletes from across the country together for elite competition, maximum exposure, personal development, meaningful connections, and access to conversations and resources that support their well-being.
AEX is more than an event. As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to creating experiences, programs, and resources that prepare athletes for what comes next—on the field, in the classroom, throughout their careers, and in life.
